R.I.P.

My first lesson for the New Year...

I got an email the other day from a close friend I knew from highschool. He told me our mutual friend got caught in an ambush in Iraq and didn't make it out. My heart dropped as I read the words, hoping for a more positive outcome. But not this time. How ironic...my conscious was just telling me to email him to see how he was doing. Yahweh works in wonderful ways, but its up to us to recognize the message. I missed it this time or just didnt make the time.

I called my best friend to talk about it. She was in tears too. I am no fan of war BY ANY MEANS!!! This brother had a Masters, wife and brand new baby, and was a Sudanese native. His family came from a warring nation!! He had no "need" to join the army, but he did.

I have learned to stop saying "I don't have the time". I have to make the time, prioritizing what is most important. Although I will never understand it, I will always admire his courage. I miss him everyday and will remember the memories back in the day. Sara you know whats up! Rest in peace Amen!
