The other night my 7year old daughter called me from the living room in excitement..."mommy, mommy...look! Its Obama!! You know the President?!" How amazing is that? She has been literally absorbing my excitement and interest in watching the various debates on CNN...I mean she really understands!
2008 really is about change! What better way to initiate that change, than to delve into the world of politics? After all, our entire depleating economy depends on it at this point. I can't even lie, before this year I was among the thousands of non-voters who believed in some ridiculous conspiracy theory. However, with my new outlook on life I decided to take a firm stance on the issues. Im no debator by any means but I do believe that I owe it to my ancestors and community that fought for our right to vote. There really is meaning behind it all. My goal is to display those reasons to my two daughters this year as we enter the polls to vote in our President - for CHANGE!
My advice to you is this: IF you are one of the lost souls out there refusing to vote because you think its a waste of time, simply wack, or dont feel inspired - Remember the Black bodies that were hosed down thrown against brick buildings for wanting the right to vote! You owe them that much.
