Im in the Big League Now

I may have bombarded many of you with my emergency kitchen sink plumbing problem over the past 2 days. I was in full panic mode because not only did I feel crippled unable to do simple things like wash dishes...the house became consumed with a STANK fishy smell of left over food and moldy water. Gettin the picture yet? Well if not, here is the blow by blow of it all.

I was doing my Joan Cleaver thang makin a bomb dinner - cubed steak, mashed potatoes, and veggies. After peeling the potatoes, I placed them in the disposal. Ok, before you jump to conclusions and start pointing fingers, the dishwasher developed a clog about 6months ago that we just ignored. Anyway, after feeding the disposal my tots, the sink started clogging up with water on one side. Freakin out now, I got the plunger to do my thang. Do you know the damn plunging only made things worse! The silver whole thing that near the faucet (I call it the air gap thingy) SHOT that nasty STANK water with food bits ALL over me and the kitchen!! I was done at this point...its up to my non-handy husband now who was not home yet. The other side of the sink stopped up too AND the water was rising by itself!

Long story short...after requesting referrals and seeking the help of friends with no help or direction...I put on my "I can do anything hat" and searched online (got that from my momma) learnin the sink anatomy and all. I headed to the sink (well John and I, but we know I was the brains of this operation) unscrewed the air gap thingy and the P-trap to find TONS of nasty STANK food water and a CLOG of POTATO skins! LOL ROFL! Ok, so I may have been the initial culprit of this fiasco, but I was not the originator...plus that's besides the point. Not only did we fix the sink...we also fixed the dishwasher too. So no more dish pan hands for me baby! I am an official home owner now for real ; )
