I feel like I have sang this song before, but the melody seems unchanging. The desert has a very different culture than I'm used to and today it speaks louder than words. As I sit at home today, I am amazed at how far removed it is. Ok, so I am a Bezerkley girl, no doubt...and I know that it has its own defining culture. BUT COME ON people!!! I live in the land of natives and Mexicans...I cannot believe that Cesar Chavez Day is not recognized here by the majority of companies! What's more is that you don't see many people makin a stink about it either. I'm not a real big HOLIDAY type of person, but I was educated in high school to know that many of these important leaders have provided the very existence and rights that we have today. Cesar Chavez is just as important, if not more than the President. He fervently stood up for something he believed in. He gave of himself for the sake of others just as Martin L. King and Malcolm X. There aren't many people like that today. So, for all my old school BHS protest supporters, I say, "Viva La Rasa...Unida!!!" LOL ya'll know whats up ; )
