Its so sad that your 5 year old child refuses to return home after a beautiful weekend on the beach, literally! But that is reality! This past weekend was me, my mom, child, and nephew chillin. Although I woke up every morning at the crack of dawn, it was a blessing to wake up and have the ocean directly outside your window! The weather was perfect, not cold at all: everyone that knows me knows it must have been the bomb weather because I am ALWAYS cold.
Saturday morning we all woke up early. The children drew works of art, while moms sat outside smoking and watching the sunshine upon the crystal blue water, and I made breakfast. We ate home potatoes, cheese toast, sausage, grapes, OJ, and tea on the patio watching the tide come in. Also, the many vendors setting up shop ready to harass you every minute on the hour. The rest of the day was spent on the beach, picking out seashells for scrapbook collecting. The children wanted to go to the pool next. Within the blink of an eye, another little bad a-- boy pushed my nephew into the deepest part of the pool! It took a while for my reflexes to kick in for me to realize what was going on. I thought he could swim, but he was holding his head above water trying to say help. So I ran over there (thinking in my mind, I am not trying to jump in this freezing water 7weeks pregnant! But I would do it for my nephew : ) By the time I reached the him, less than 5 feet away, he was able to pull himself up on the ledge. I was pissed because the little boy just stood there as my nephew looked all freaked out soaked up to his neck. Then I realized the boy pushed him in. So, the momma voice kicked in...I said, "did you push him in?" and do you know that little heathen (sorry ; / ) said, "yeah..." Nonchalantly! Then he asks, how old is he? I looked at him like "what the hell does it matter" but said 7. He said, "...7, he should be able to swim..." I said "well he can't, so don't do that again to ANYONE!" Do you know that this little boy proceeds to through my nephews boogie board into the deep part of the pool IN MY FACE!! My blood started boiling now... I said "go get it NOW" with my Claire Huxtable eyebrow! Ya'll no what Im talking about. LOL. He said "NO" I said you will get it or I am going to tell you mother... and he did" But I still went to find her and she was no where to be found of course. I could go on and on, but I wont.
Later that evening we rode on a yaht across the ocean for 2hours. The children loved it, until the thrill was gone. LOL. There was a dwarf (sorry if not politically correct) playing the zylophone and my innocent child kept saying "mommy, the little short man is funny!" Of course it was loud too, so I had to explain that situation and the polite way to say things. It was the most exhilirating feeling to be so one with nature!
We chilled in the condo the rest of the evening. We actually crashed pretty early. The next morning I made some bomb breakfast again and then we walked along the beach. Sadly it was time to pack up our things to return home. We went to the old port bought some gifts and had lunch over the ocean. Then it was back to reality.
