I think a calming storm is beginning to come over me now. My house is the way I want it and preparations are done for the most part. Thank heavens for family support. I had been feeling a bit perplexed about this birth because I am not quite sure what to expect in my third birth. However, last night I had a flash back moment. Thinking about my past birth experience I thought they were drastically different being that my first was a vaginal breech birth in the hospital and my second at home. Although I was 23 and still a bit wet behind the ears for my first pregnancy, I had a strong head on my shoulder then. The ah ha moment came to me when remembering my prenatal appointment around 34wks maybe at the birth center. My midwife did my first vaginal check and said, "ummm you are dilated 3-4cm and 60% effaced." In amazement she consulted with physicians at UCSF for the next move since I was breech and addimant about having a vaginal birth. They rushed me to the UCSF birth center for triage. The nurses had me on the monitor and asked, "do you feel those?" They were talking about contractions, BUT amazingly I didnt feel a thing! At that point they said I was in true labor with contractions at least 5min apart consistently. I was, however, given tributalene to stop them to give the baby more time to grow in utero.
So there it is...I do have a pattern! My ancestors have blessed me with powerful hips and a body of steel apparently. I have NEVER heard of someone in labor feeling no discomfort the entire time until the time to push??!! This birth has already begun the same path, so I look forward to seeing the end result. I might have to write a damn book about this one LOL. No matter what, I am blessed to have such wonderfully different and special births that I can share with thousands of women especially the 3 baby girls that Yahweh has given to me.
