Testing, Testing, 1.2.3

What in the hell have I gotten myself into?! Today was my first official day of studying for the GRE. I studied for 2 hours. I only got through the test explanation, directions, tips, and a couple of practice questions in the verbal section. So far the studying only proves that I am dumb as nails because half the time I dont know what the damn words even mean in the question. This is all bringing back the SAT fears and disappointment that I once had. Although I have no intentions of letting this cripple me, I have to admit that it is freaking me out quite a bit. Not only do I HATE standardized tests, I also am a huge conspiracy theorists at times. This is definitely one of those times. First of all the test is ADAPTIVE..oh yeah I learned what that meant in this context - it means that the test choses your next question based on how you answered the previous one and if its hard or not. So for the average joe, AKA me, im pretty much screwed LOL. Oh yes, this first go round shook me up a bit. I am not giving up, but I need tips on how to REALLY study for this test. I feel like I should be reading scientific articles, watching Akeela and the Bee for vocab, and asking my 7yr old daughter about my grammer content. LOL!! This is real though. Day #2 tomorrow, but for now I need a damn cigarette and I dont even smoke - you get my GIST (oh yeah that was on of the words I knew, but still got the antonym wrong ;(
