Babies in the community of the African diaspora are dying too early, too often, and it can be prevented. The infant mortality rates are highest amongst all babies across the board. As an ICTC State Representative it is my duty to spread this knowledge. I want to get you concerned, upset, and interested in this issue because these dying babies are OUR children too as a community. You might ask "how can I help...what can I do?" Change begins with education and continuing the oral tradition of sharing history. As a people, we come from a long line of traditional healing, especially midwives. Black midwives are a huge part of American history - from the birth of Black babies to the white ones of the slave master. Midwifery is special, its necessary, and its here to stay. Please watch the video for inspiration and to peak your interest.
