So a very close friend told me my blog focuses greatly on the negative. Therefore, rather than dwelling on all the caos this weekend I will reflect on the good. I got to go home this weekend for a West African Dance conference. My old stomppin grounds yall!!! I did lots of reminiscing as I ran into old highschool friends that I used to dance with. The conference showed all my flaws, weaknesses, and out shape self since living in the desert. BUT I enjoyed at least tryin to hang. Although, I think I hung well in the Congolese class - shaken my tale feather and all!
Seing my oldest daughter just bust outta her shell, uninhibited in dance class, and playing amongst the other children of color without hesitation made me realize how much I HAVE to move back. I owe it to my children to have cultural exposure and richness beyond their imagination. The Bay has its downfalls like any other place, but it is rich with humble spirit and strength. I am tired of hearing my baby girl coming home sad faced because of children not playing with her or singling her out. She deserves better than that. PERIOD. And Yahweh willing I am going to do just that.
The weather was gorgeous and FRESH!!! Not smothering...who could ask for more?
